A huge thank you to Svend all day cleaning car for sending me some car detailing gloop, complete with proper instructions!

Kinja'd!!!

It's not often someone is willing to help out for no benefit to themselves, and I think that kindness should be recognised.

Kinja'd!!!

So thanks dude! When you're anywhere near Newcastle please let me buy you a pint of Wylams finest beer.

I couldn't agree more. If Secret Senna wasn't reason enough, then the little things like this are.

I can tell you this, early Sat morning I'm off to the shops to get the proper cloths and mitts. I've never been so excited to wash cars before :)

Thanks but it's nothing. I'm really into detailing and very happy to help others who are interested in it. It can be an expensive hobby and there are so many products out there it's mind blowing so rather than buy something and you don't like it or isn't right for you I'd rather let people try stuff I like and use that way if they don't like it they haven't lost out financially and have an idea of where they want their detailing to go or like the product enough to buy some later and work from there.

Asda have an assortment of 30+ microfibres (approximately 180-190 gsm short to medium pile cloths) for £8 at the moment. I bought a box and they are quite good for the money of try Costco as you have them over there (shame we don't this side). A microfibre noodle wash mitt is the most economical wash mitt as wool ones need a bit of care and can get quite expensive.

Sweet. Costco it is. I'm happy taking proper care of my gear, what's the cost/benefit difference?

Microfibres come in weights (similar to paper) in gsm and length of pile. Short pile is good for cleaning and applying product to be treated while long/deep pile is good for buffing. For cleaning glass waffle weave microfibres are best as regular ones tend to leave every so tiny bits behind which you won't see till it's a bright day and can be annoying they can also be 'grabby' on the glass surface needing you to keep a firm hold of the cloth and then loosely wipe over to remove any loose fibres. Cloths are like anything and can get very expensive but if you find a good cloth you like using then it should last a while with maintenance by washing on a low temperature in a non bio wash if you haven't any microfibre wash.
